A tick is a spider-like parasite, barely larger than a pinhead, which can cause unpleasant illnesses. With a tick bite, a tick bites the skin of a human or animal. Around 20% of ticks in the Netherlands carry the contagious Borrelia bacterium. This bacterium can cause Lyme disease or FSME. So it's better to prevent a tick bite than to cure it.
