Trekking

More than a hike, trekking, commonly known as trek, brings together a community of many walkers and enthusiasts in search of adventure.

This English-speaking term is actually a Dutch word meaning "migration" a few centuries ago.

The word has evolved from year to year but today it means: hiking in mountainous regions. This trip can take place over one to several days to discover, alone or in a group, what nature is hiding from us. This sport can also be a way to discover foreign countries in a different way by being closer to nature, or even to be a real challenge for surpassing oneself.

Preparing for your trip

Paper and passport in your pocket, you must now look into the equipment necessary for your trek. And we will help you!

To start your preparation well, you must choose your backpack. Each bag is designed according to the needs you have. Your body shape is the starting point. Choose a bag according to your size, if you are a man or a woman, and according to the load that you plan. The back panel and the different adjustments of the shoulder straps and the waist belt will be important for a good balance of the weight of your luggage. And finally, the longer your journey, the more it will be necessary to orient yourself on more important literature.

At Alpinstore, you have a wide choice of backpacks among the brands Lafuma, Salewa, Osprey, Millet, Lowe Alpine, etc.

Choosing your hiking shoes will be just as important as choosing the backpack. We advise you to choose high, robust and light shoes to have an optimal support of your ankle in order to face all the paths, even the steepest. Wear waterproof Gore Tex shoes to keep your feet dry and with a non-slip sole so that there are no obstacles between you and the mountain. Some hiking shoes can be painful at first, but you can wear them beforehand to soften the fabric and the sole!

Find all these shoes: La Sportiva, Scarpa, Merrell, Millet, etc.

In your backpack? You still have a few things to add. Remember to take a tent according to the number of people, add a sleeping bag (it even exists for two people!). If you want to save as much space as possible choose your Sea To Summit utensils, for example. Do not forget your headlamp, your trekking poles and above all take technical, practical clothes adapted to the climate where you are going!

Conquer the mountain, its landscapes and come back with all your memories!
