Ski touring poles an essential part of your equipment

Find your suitable pair of poles at Alpinstore. Sold in pairs, they are not only an accessory, they also help you gain stability and balance for your ski runs. Follow our advice, to find your ideal pair!

The different parts of the stick

The stick consists of 4 parts:

Firstly, the handle, to give you maximum comfort when taking the pole in your hand. You can find two models : those with a 4-finger grip or the 3-finger grips + the index finger, for smaller hands.

The strap, is the strap that goes around your wrist, it allows you to keep the stick correctly during your movements and especially not to lose it on the slopes.

The tube of the stick is made of different materials, carbon or aluminium. Aluminum makes for a strong tube, and carbon for lightness, but it will be less resistant. According to your preferences, choose a single or telescopic tube, adjust the height of the tube with your size.

At the very bottom is the tip: This is the part that will plant the stick in the snow, the stick will help you to move forward and move on flat ground. The tip can also help you when entering turns.

Alpinstore offers you a selection of brands of ski touring poles at Black Diamond, Leki, Skitrab, Dynafit, Komperdell, Rossignol.

Choose a suitable size

The pole is there to improve your sporting practice so that you can perform better.

We advise you to turn the stick over (to put it upside down), put your hand under the puck (as the part under the puck will get stuck in the snow, it is not necessary to count this part). The hollow of your elbow should ideally be at an angle of 90°, if the angle is too wide (>90°) then take one stick size up and if the angle is too narrow (<90°) go for a smaller size.

If you don't have the opportunity to try the poles, we propose you a table with the sizes for skiers :
