DVA Security Packs

For your high mountain trekking trips, you should equip yourself with an ARVA DVA pack.

Whether you ski touring or off-piste skiing, it is necessary to equip yourself with basic safety equipment as soon as you leave the normal routes, the DVA pack includes 3 essential elements: the shovel, the probe and the dva (Avalanche Victim Detector) formerly called ARVA (Avalanche Rescue Apparatus).

To complete your level of protection, you can add an airbag, which during an avalanche allows the bag to inflate like an airbag in order to avoid being buried under the snow.

What is a DVA? - Avalanche Victim Detector

The DVA is an electronic box that you carry with you. In transmit mode, it emits sound signals (frequency 457mhz). In receive mode, it picks up these signals. As you progress on skis, your DVA is set to transmit mode. If you are buried under an avalanche, people in the area will put their AED in receive mode to pick up the beeps and locate you. All DVA models available on the market transmit and receive at the same frequency and are therefore compatible with each other.

Find a wide choice of digital DVAs according to different criteria: ease of use, range, number of antennas and options. Discover a selection of products from the manufacturers Ortovox, Mammut, Black Diamond, Pieps and many others.
Go to the DVA page for more tips on this electronic device.

The snow probe

The second piece of safety equipment is the sensor. It allows you to find the exact location and depth of burial of the victim in order to save precious minutes to act as quickly as possible.
Discover a multitude of probes depending on the materials, the rigidity, the tension system and the desired length. It is essential to know how to use this product before you go into the mountains, for this reason we recommend training courses such as the Orthovox Safety Academy.

The snow shovel

The third and final product in a DVA pack is the shovel. A quality shovel saves you time to save a person's life in the event of an avalanche. Important criteria for a robust product are the following parts: the handle, the grip and the bucket. For more information about these parts click here.
