Scarpa, specialist in hiking boots, ski touring, telemark, climbing boots, launches a great novelty for the year 2016 by arriving with a trail running range. Thanks to its know-how in the world of footwear and slippers, the brand can rely on big names such as Matéo Jacquemoud, recent winner of the Pierra Menta with Kilian Jornet.

Here below is the test of the Scarpa Neutron which is the flagship model of the ALPINE RUNNING range. Very versatile, it has been designed for medium distance trails. It is particularly adapted to technical trails and allows to gain in agility while remaining stable.

Test on fat ground on the slopes of Parmelan and Mont Veyrier in Annecy. Test also on snowy trails and even on very slippery ground Shoe tested with Rywansocks

The Scarpa Neutron and its assets

First we take her for a 3/4 hours jog on rough undergrowth trails to see what it will be like. The first sensations are good to see surprising. We immediately deal with a comfortable shoe. The heel is well blocked and that makes it possible to evolve easily on uneven paths. The terrain is greasy but the Vibram sole is not important and the Salomon Speedcross style grip is very efficient.

We tested the shoe several times on greasy terrain but then we went on the slopes of Le Veyrier for a 2 hour outing and the terrain was snowy and even frozen. Let's put the shoe to the test to see how it performs. What surprised us is its grip, a pure Vibram sole that even on frozen snow adheres perfectly. The shoe brakes perfectly even on slippery terrain.

We are surprised by the quality of the crampons: stability of the boot, perfect braking and excellent grip even on slippery surfaces. We quickly felt safe on the descents as well as on the ascent.

It remains above all a 3-season shoe but one that will accompany you during all your adventures.

At the end of the first day of testing we understood that we put our foot in a breathable shoe and combined it with Rywan socks it's perfect for the comfort of the foot.

The front protection of the shoe is reinforced, perfect for unrolling your foot as you wish. Reinforced front stone guard ideal for rough terrain.

Under the tongue there is a very practical system to store your laces.

Scarpa has come out with the Neutron an excellent shoe 100% designed for trail running. Comfortable and breathable, it is perfect for descents on slippery and slippery terrain thanks to its lugs for stability, grip and braking.
