What is Pebax Rnew?

Pebax® appeared on the market in the 1980s. It is a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) that provides elasticity and resistance, developed by Arkema, a major player in global chemistry and specialist in high-performance materials. With exceptional technical characteristics, this material is now widely used by Scarpa in the manufacture of ski touring and trail running shoes. Pebax® Rnew® is the world's first bio-based TPE. Derived from castor beans, it retains the exceptional properties of PEBAX®, including lightness, flexural resistance, and elastic return, while being part of an eco-design approach.

Scarpa was also a pioneer in 2007 when the company chose advanced bio-based Pebax^® Rnew^®polymers for its shoes, thus maintaining a high level of performance and taking a step towards more sustainable material sourcing. The choice of Pebax^® Rnew^® materials makes it the ideal choice to reduce the environmental impact of Scarpa and thus affirm its uncompromising values.
