LIGHT MY FIRE: RECONNECTING WITH NATURE

Welcome to the world of Light My Fire. Our company aims to design products that reconnect us to nature, wherever we are. We combine design and functionality with adventure and the experience of new things, whether it's a lunch break in a local park or a meal on a hike in the woods. We dream of sharing the beauty of nature with future generations and rediscovering the art of fire by encouraging the exploration of forgotten skills. Join us in this adventure!

It all started with a stick in 1995, when our founder, Michael Odqvist, discovered the secrets of MayaSticks. Fascinated by the beauty and reliability of these softwood kindling sticks, Michael decided to launch a larger scale fair trade production, helping descendants of Mayan Indians earn more money to send their children to school. Unfortunately, when the firelighters were launched in Sweden a year later, the product was not successful due to a lack of understanding and marketing. However, rather than give up, we looked for other ways to sell MayaSticks. In 1996, we discovered the Swedish FireSteel, a magnesium fire starter developed and used by the Swedish army, which proved to be a perfect combination with TinderSticks to start a fire in all conditions and at all altitudes.

DESIGN AND FUNCTIONALITY

Since then, we have developed a range of high quality outdoor products designed with a smile and a range of colors. Our CEO, Calill Odqvist, took over the company and our production moved to a factory in Västervik, Sweden. In 2005, our first product, the MealKit, was introduced to the market. However, it was our most famous invention, the Spork, that attracted the most attention and became a huge success. Today, more than 50 million Sporks have been sold and our company is distributed in 50 countries with our products sold in more than 7800 stores. We develop unique, low-tech, high-quality outdoor products with design, color and function that make them as attractive to use in the city as they are in the wild. Our goal is to enable everyone to live their dreams of candlelight, campfires and freedom, because for us, fire is life.
