Thetrail trail running is the definition of running in a natural environment. Over the past ten years trail trail running has been a resounding success, with over 8 million runners in Europe alone.
Trail running can be practised whatever the season. October is the ideal month to prepare for the winter season: night races (Sainté Lyon) Trail Blanc (Semnoz)... The most successful races are mainly in the mountains: Utmb / Lavaredo Trail, Tor des géants, Marathon du Mont Blanc, Sierre Zinal... The sport has also become popular on all types of terrain: Eco trail de Paris, trail du bout du monde, coastal trails...
To practice this sport in autumn and winter, it's important to be well covered. We recommend :
- cover your extremities to keep out the cold: hat, gloves, neck warmer
- a long-sleeved T-shirt
- an insulating first layer
- a waterproof or windproof jacket
- good tights
- trail bag
- good hydration and food (flask water bag with insulating protection against the cold, some food bars).
- a good headlamp
It's important to wear breathable clothing that wicks away perspiration, dries quickly and makes you feel comfortable. Be careful not to cover up too much, either, as you'll quickly become uncomfortably sweaty.
