The Wildfire Edge Mid GORE-TEX® is a unique technical shoe for mountaineers, climbers and easy climbers looking for a performance-enhanced approach to climbing. It's based on the smart and simple Salewa Switchfit system that allows you to quickly adjust the fit from hiking to climbing, providing the same toe compression as a mountaineering boot. Just tighten the laces to push your foot forward. When you're done climbing, return the laces to their original position to create more room in the toe area and increase walking comfort. For more precision when climbing, the Wildfire Edge insole also features a lateral support plate under the side of the foot and big toe, which provides more rigidity under the toes and makes it easier to change direction. The rest of the insole is flexible to ensure comfort and natural rolling motion of the foot. The 11mm height is also ideal for quick approaches in the mountains or to ensure a better grip when crossing. The lightweight and flexible mid-high upper is made from quality 1.6mm suede, while for added stability when gripping with lateral support, Exa Shell technology combined with the 3F system wraps the foot, providing flexibility and support. Inside, the GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort lining provides durable waterproofing and breathability. This keeps precipitation and groundwater out, but sweat easily escapes from the feet. For added protection against snow, scree and dirt, there is a stretch gaiter. The interior volume can also be custom-tailored with the MFF+ footbed. Underfoot, the Wildfire Edge Mid GORE-TEX® features the Pomoca Speed MTN Pro outsole, which uses the Pomoca Butylic compound for better grip and friction on rock in both wet and dry conditions. The sole features a precision zone specifically designed for mountaineering in the toe area, a high-performance side plate and spaced crampons for better traction on soft ground, such as mud and grass.
