Merrell is an American brand founded in 1981 in Rockford (Michigan) by Clark Matis, Randy Merrell, and John Schweizer. Specializing in outdoor footwear, Merrell is today the best-selling hiking brand in the world, particularly thanks to its Moab range ("Mother Of All Boots"). It offers collections for hiking, trail running, alpine approaches, and everyday wear.

Merrell specifies that it is not possible to directly convert a men's size to a women's size: each foot is unique. Merrell women's sizes start at EU 35 and generally go up to EU 43 depending on the model.
Place your foot flat on a sheet of paper, heel against a wall. Mark the tip of the longest toe with a pencil. Measure the distance between the wall and the mark. Repeat on both feet and keep the largest measurement.
Measure the width at the forefoot (the widest part). If your width is significantly above average for your foot length, consider a Wide (2E) version available on some Merrell models.
For hiking and trail running, Merrell recommends 1 to 1.5 cm of space between the longest toe and the front of the shoe. This space is essential for long descents where the foot moves forward in the shoe.
Always measure at the end of the day or after a walk, when the foot is slightly swollen. Wear the socks you will use with the shoes. Measure both feet (they often differ by a few mm).

Proprietary Merrell sole. Made of recycled rubber and high-traction rubber. Versatile on various terrains (trail, wet grass, mud). Standard on Moab, Siren, Nova.
Vibram sole with high rubber content. Exceptional grip on wet rock and technical terrains. Used on Agility Peak 6, SpeedARC Matis, MQM, MTL. Reference for outdoor soles.
Gore-Tex: breathable waterproof membrane of reference. Maximum protection in sustained rain. M-Select DRY: Merrell waterproof membrane, adequate protection, better breathability, and more accessible price.
Antibacterial treatment of the insole reducing odors. Standard on most Merrell models. The treatment renews with washing using the latest M-Select FRESH technologies.
Thermal insulation 200g for winter models (Thermo Rogue, Thermo Cross). Keeps warmth up to -32°C depending on the models. Designed to keep the foot warm without adding excessive weight.
High-performance cushioning foams. FloatPro on Agility Peak 6: EVA+TPU foam, lightweight and dynamic. MTL Foam on SpeedARC: maximum energy return for elite runners.
Yes, this is the most frequent feedback from European users, especially on the Moab range. Merrell shoes are designed on American lasts that tend to be slightly shorter and narrower than European standards. The general rule is to take a half size to a full size larger than your usual size in European brands (Salewa, Scarpa, Lowa…). This is less true for trail models (Agility Peak, MTL) which tend to fit true to size.
Moab 3: the classic hiking shoe, mid-cut available, robust construction, EVA, M-Select GRIP. Versatile and accessible shoe. Moab Speed: a more dynamic and lightweight version, Vibram Megagrip sole, closer to trail, less rigid than the Moab 3. Perfect for fast hikes. Moab FST: version with M-Select DRY membrane integrated directly into the mesh (Fast and Stable), without a separate inner sleeve — better breathability compared to a standard Gore-Tex.
If you have a wide forefoot, wide toes, or if your current shoes pinch your toes without being too short, the Wide (2E) version is for you. Available on Moab 3, Moab Speed 2, and some Siren and Nova models. The Wide version maintains the same length as the standard version: do not go up a size from the Wide, as it would be counterproductive.
The Moab is primarily a solid and comfortable hiking shoe, suitable for well-marked trails, prioritizing comfort and protection. The Agility Peak 6 is a true trail shoe: Vibram Megagrip sole for technical and wet terrains, more dynamic FloatPro foam, lower drop (6 mm vs 12 mm on Moab 3), more precise shape. If you run or hike fast on technical terrain, the Agility Peak is the right choice. If you seek comfort for multi-day outings with a load, the Moab 3 remains the reference.
Gore-Tex (GTX) is the most performant waterproof membrane on the market: almost absolute protection in sustained rain, large streams, wet snow. Its downside is slightly reduced breathability and an additional price. M-Select DRY is Merrell's proprietary membrane, more breathable in warm weather, very suitable for summer hiking in the mountains with showers. For winter or very wet conditions, prefer Gore-Tex. For alpine summers with some showers, M-Select DRY is often sufficient and more comfortable.
Merrell size charts based on official grids (sources: merrell.com/FR, PRFO Sports, HAVN Store). The cm corresponds to the exact length of the foot (not the interior length of the shoe). Merrell recommends measuring both feet at the end of the day and choosing based on the larger foot.
