Selection of eco-responsible products: the future of outdoor equipment
At Alpinstore, we're committed to defending true nature. We want to practice our sport, explore the mountains through different disciplines, but without damaging anything, contributing and acting to leave a positive footprint.
That's why we thought it only natural to offer you a selection of eco-friendly products, i.e. products that have a minimum impact on the environment throughout their life cycle. Eco-friendly products have a number of characteristics: they can be made from recyclable materials, from natural materials, or following an eco-responsible or fair-trade manufacturing process.
There is no official definition or standard for determining whether a product is eco-friendly or not. However, it is possible to demonstrate that a product has a lesser impact on the environment throughout its entire life cycle: from the extraction of raw materials, to its manufacture, transport, use and finally its end-of-life.
The ideal ecological product is one that can be manufactured with renewable resources (that grow back), locally (without transport), without grey energy (the energy needed to manufacture it), without air, water or soil pollution, whose daily use does not harm the environment, and whose end-of-life would also be environmentally friendly. Unfortunately, there is no such thing.
Nonetheless, today we can see that our partner brands are stepping up their efforts to offer you products that are as high-performance as ever, but that increasingly take into account respect for nature and our obligations to future generations.
Our eco-friendly selection is therefore totally subjective, but it reflects our aspirations and our search for a product in line with our values.
