ORTOVOX : A CREATION DEDICATED TO INNOVATION

Founded in 1980 by two mountain enthusiasts, Gerald Kampel and Jürgen Wegner, ORTOVOX is first and foremost a manufacturer of avalanche transceivers, textiles and backpacks using merino wool. The goal of the brand is to develop a climate of safety and pleasure for mountain activities.

They released in 2013, the Merino Guardian Shell which takes comfort to the next level by coupling a highly durable and waterproof 3-layer construction with merino wool to achieve a breathable and comfortable interior.

The back panel is an important part of the backpack and comfort and ORTOVOX knows it. In fact, on the PEAK model, they compressed merino wool to get a very breathable bag with perfect moisture management, offering a dry comfortable feel. In terms of backpacks, they have developed their own AVABAG airbag system and more recently, in partnership with Arc'teryx, the LiTRIC technology which ensures an electronic system weighing just 1100g and a total of 2 triggers per charge.
