From the very beginning, the Petzl signature on our products has simply been the Petzl family's commitment to producing the best tools for users. The adventure began with Fernand Petzl's passion for caving. An expertise and a craftsman's know-how were born for the design and realization of solutions for climbing, descending, belaying and progressing.

Today, the company has grown to become an international group, while retaining its family dimension and the passion that drove Fernand PETZL.

Petzl: an expert and innovative brand

Petzl's design office, located in Crolles, France, integrates all the trades involved in product design: mechanics, textiles, electronics, optics and IT. Right from the design and prototyping phases, product reliability and user safety are constantly assessed, with particular attention paid to the risks of use.

Petzl has laboratories dedicated to verticality and lamp product testing. In many cases, these tests go well beyond the required standards to validate product reliability and user safety. They are complemented by field tests on ergonomics and reliability.

Petzl's production sites are based in France at Crolles, Eybens and Rotherens, and in Malaysia at Rawang.In terms of production, quality control is present throughout the production chain: self-control of operations by production machines, human controls at key points, reinforced by error-proofing systems, and individual final control of each product.
