KASK Size Guide — Bicycle Helmets

KASK is an Italian brand founded in 2004 in Chiuduno (Bergamo province, Lombardy), specializing in high-end helmets 100% Made in Italy. Official partner of the INEOS Grenadiers team since 2010, KASK equips the greatest champions of world cycling. This guide covers all KASK ranges available on Alpinstore: road, gravel, MTB, aero, urban.

All KASK helmets are CE EN1078 certified and tested according to the exclusive KASK Rotational Impact WG11 Test against rotational impacts.

How to Measure Your Head Size — KASK Method

KASK recommends a strict horizontal measurement: place a flexible measuring tape just above the eyebrows and ears, well horizontal across the entire skull. Note the value obtained in centimeters — this is your head size.

  • Measure at the end of the day, after physical activity if possible (the head may slightly swell during exertion).
  • Get help from a friend for more accuracy.
  • If your measurement is between two sizes, take the larger size for KASK — the Octo Fit system allows for fine-tuning the fit later.
  • Each KASK model has an ergonomic adjustment system covering a range of several centimeters, making each size very versatile.

KASK Technologies Explained

Octo Fit

Retention system with dial adjustment and 360° circumferential adjustment and height adjustment. Covers a range of several centimeters, making each KASK size very versatile. The rubberized dial allows for precise micro-adjustments even while riding.

Octo Fit +

Advanced version of Octo Fit, present on high-end models (Protone Icon, Elemento, Nirvana, Utopia Y). Adds a vertical stabilizer at the nape for ergonomic neck support and better helmet balance, especially in aero position.

Ergo Fit

Adjustment system present on the Sintesi. Redesigned dial for better grip and easy micro-adjustments. Offers comfort and optimal fit on uneven terrain.

Blue Tech

Exclusive KASK padding material. Highly breathable, with antibacterial and antistatic properties. Removable and washable on most models. Complemented by front pads for sweat management.

Multipod

3D printed internal padding present on the Elemento. The elastomer used allows for better resistance to energy generated by linear and rotational impacts, while improving heat evacuation compared to traditional foams.

Fluid Carbon 12

Exclusive composite technopolymer of the Elemento. Absorbs more energy upon impact than traditional EPS materials and distributes the force more uniformly across the helmet. Allows for larger internal channels for better ventilation while reducing the outer surface for better aerodynamics.

WG11 Rotational Impact Test

Exclusive KASK testing protocol developed to measure helmet performance against rotational impacts, in addition to standard linear shock tests. Tested by an independent certified laboratory. All KASK helmets are developed in accordance with this protocol.

One-Move Switch (Urban R)

One-click visor replacement system on the Urban R. Allows changing the visor in seconds according to lighting conditions. 4 accessory visors available: Light Smoke, Clear, Orange, Blue.

KASK Size Guide FAQ

How to choose between size M and L for a KASK Protone Icon helmet if my head size is 57 cm?

A head size of 57 cm falls within the range of size M (52-58 cm) of the Protone Icon. Size M is the correct choice. The Octo Fit+ system will allow for precise adjustment exactly to 57 cm. No need to take an L — the M range goes up to 58 cm.

Why do the size ranges S and M overlap (50-56 and 52-58)?

The overlap between S (50-56 cm) and M (52-58 cm) is intentional and reflects the adjustment range of the Octo Fit system. If your head size is between 52 and 56 cm, both sizes can technically fit. However, KASK recommends taking the size corresponding to the middle of the range for optimal adjustment: 52-54 cm = S, 55-58 cm = M.

Should I choose a Protone Icon or a Valegro?

These are two complementary helmets. The Protone Icon offers the best balance of aerodynamics/ventilation/protection — it is the ultimate versatile all-terrain helmet, ideal for all conditions. The Valegro is specifically designed to maximize ventilation, perfect for long summer outings, climbs, and hot days. Its aerodynamics is slightly inferior. If you ride mainly in summer in the mountains, choose the Valegro. For year-round and all-conditions use, choose the Protone Icon.

Is the KASK helmet suitable for all head shapes?

KASK designs its helmets to fit all head shapes thanks to the Octo Fit system (360° circumferential adjustment + height). KASK helmets are known for their excellent fit on both round and oval heads. If you have a particularly elongated head (dolichocephalic), the Octo Fit system also adapts well due to its open architecture.

When should I replace my KASK helmet?

KASK recommends replacing the helmet after any significant impact, even if no damage is visible to the naked eye (the EPS foam deforms irreversibly upon impact). In the absence of a fall, KASK recommends replacement every 3 to 5 years depending on use and exposure to UV, heat, and chemicals (sweat, sunscreen). Padding and straps can be replaced independently.

Are KASK helmets compatible with KOO glasses?

Yes. KOO is the sports glasses brand of the KASK group. KASK helmets are designed for optimal compatibility with KOO glasses, particularly for storing the arms between the padding and the shell, and for alignment with the vents. This compatibility is particularly enhanced on the Protone Icon, Valegro, and Elemento models.

KASK size charts are based on official KASK data (source: kask.com, Hardloop). The size grid may vary slightly depending on the vintages and new versions of the models — always check the product sheet on Alpinstore. All KASK helmets are 100% made in Italy.
