Test Backpack trail running Rev 6 Osprey

Test Backpack trail running Rev 6 Osprey

In order to bring you more information about the Rev 6 liter Osprey bag here are the results of our tests from several trail and running sessions.

Test conditions :

- running outing on the Annecy lake shore between Sevrier and Saint Jorioz : 1h30

- 2h trail ride in the Mont Veyrier which overlooks Annecy and its lake.

Take one:

We're surprised by the organization of the Rev 6-liter Osprey bag that allows you to carry everything you need while still being able to store every single item. During the tests it was 8-10 degrees and I left with a t-shirt and a small jacket. After 20 minutes I was already too hot, I could easily put my jacket on the bag without any problem. It was very easy to get in and out of the bag and put it back at the end of my training.

The ergonomics of the bag: a major asset at Osprey

- There are 3 separate compartments in the back to store your belongings: one for the water pocket; a small one for your papers and keys (including a clip so you don't lose your keys) including an anti-scratch coating (ideal for phone or glasses) and another pocket for the rest of your stuff: snacks, necklace...

- Water pocket 1.5 litres with opening and screwing system. But the main strength is the magnetic valve. No matter how hard you run on a flat surface or make long descents, the valve always stays in place and does not move. You don't have to wedge it in a flange of the bag. Big strength of the bag.

- Smartphone pocket on the strap of the bag with TPU protection and touch: you can consult your smartphone with your dirty, sweaty hands without getting it dirty. Not suitable for large smartphones. Dimensions: height: 11.5 cm width: 7.5 cm. Iphone 4: ok.

- 2 pockets on the side are also appreciated to be able to put some snacks or also a soft flask if you don't want to use the water pocket and leave with little water (250 to 500 ml). A little more difficult to access.

- The impression of having a bag with a volume well over 6 litres.

- A very nice finish.

Carrying the bag

I usually run with belly bags like Marco Olmo from Raidlight or the Salomon range. This system of double straps that can be adapted to suit your convenience between chest and belly is finally a matter of habit and you get used to it quickly. The Rev 6 litre Osprey bag stays perfectly glued to the back and you quickly forget it... it's above all the main thing when you run. Distribution of the load in the bag: ok.

Adjusting the straps can easily be done with thin running gloves. All straps can be adjusted precisely.

No friction, comfortable straps that adapt perfectly to your body shape.

The bag is worn high.

For what type of running is the Rev 6 litre Osprey bagsuitable?

It is ideal for trail and running training to carry everything you need. I also recommend it for outings as well as all trail runs up to 40 - 50 km. After that it depends on your organization when it is very cold it will be hard to put 2 layers in the bag. But when the conditions are good and you need the minimum the Rev 6 liter Osprey bag can be used for longer distances.

What can I put to fill the bag: a piece of clothing on the net strap behind the bag, phone, 1.5 litre water pocket included, its snacks (gels, cereal bars...), its papers, a headlamp, a neckband and a second layer.
