CHOOSE THE SIZE OF YOUR SNOWBOARD ACCORDING TO YOUR USE
You are a snowboarder and would like to change your board for this winter? You are a beginner and you want to invest in your own equipment? Then don't move, you're in the right place to choose the right size board.
Please note that it depends on 3 factors: your size, your level but above all your practice.
Generally speaking, we can say that if you want a playful board to launch rotations and chain modules (freestyle practice), favour a short board. On the other hand, if you are looking for wide open spaces and fresh snow (freeride/all mountain practice), favour a longer snowboard, which will give you more flotation and stability.
1°) Choose the right size of your versatile snowboard for a piste/all mountain practice:
The piste/all mountain practice is dedicated to snowboarders who like to have fun whether on the groomed slopes or just on the side. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, advanced or expert, this practice remains accessible to all levels and this, whatever the conditions.
To choose your equipment correctly, here is the Alpinstore advice:
- Beginner to intermediate level: 20cm less than your height
- Confirmed to expert level: 15cm less than your height
2°) Choose the right size of your snowboard for a freeride/all mountain practice:
The freeride/all mountain practice is dedicated to snowboarders who love good conditions, especially when the snow has just fallen and promises great sensations of buoyancy. The freeride/all mountain boards also perform well on trafficked and hard snow.
To choose your equipment correctly, here is the Alpinstore advice:
- Beginner to intermediate level: 20 to 25cm shorter than your height.
- Confirmed to expert level: 15 to 20cm less than your height
3°) Choose the size of your snowboard for a freeride/back country practice:
The freeride/back country practice is dedicated to riders who mainly practice snowboarding off-piste. These boards are often shorter and wider with an important rocker, for easy powder snowboarding.
To choose your equipment correctly, here is the Alpinstore advice:
- Beginner to intermediate level: 15 to 20cm shorter than your height.
- Confirmed to expert level: 10 to 20cm less than your height
4°) Choose the size of your splitboard:
The practice of splitboard is ideal for all snowboarders who practice hiking. These boards split in two to be able to ride on two boards (like two touring skis) and group together with a clip, for a snowboard descent. This sport, which has been growing in popularity in recent seasons, is being practiced more and more because the sensations are unbelievable.
To choose your equipment correctly, here is the Alpinstore advice:
- Beginner to intermediate level: 10 to 20cm shorter than your height.
- Confirmed to expert level: 10 to 15cm less than your height
