In 1924, August Bremicker and his sons started their revolutionary lock manufacturing company "Iron Rock" in the town of Volmarstein near Wetter an der Ruhr. At that time, silent movies were popular, streets were not yet convenient for cars and computers were only futuristic dreams. The family started to develop and produce padlocks in the basement of their house, competing with many other forges in the area. However, the success of their business was such that the number of employees soon grew to 300 and the production plant on Hegestraße in Volmarstein was purchased in 1929. This factory is still in operation today and has contributed to making the company a successful global security company.

We offer free mineral water to our employees and have replaced plastic bottles with water dispensers to save about 200,000 single-use bottles each year. By optimizing our logistics, we have improved our use of cardboard packaging, which has helped conserve resources. We are using variable cardboard packaging to better fit the products being packaged, thereby reducing the amount of bubble wrap needed. These measures have saved over 100 tons of corrugated cardboard in just one year.

We maintain high environmental standards at all our sites worldwide. This includes recycling and reusing materials and resources (heat, water, raw materials, etc.) and avoiding the use of external intermediate transport. We introduced 40,000 new reusable pallets for internal use at our production sites in one year, which are more durable and can be used for countless cycles, unlike the previously used wooden pallets that could only be used for about 5 to 10 cycles.

As a manufacturing company, our rate of energy and primary resource consumption is high. We prioritize more than 50% of our energy mix from renewable energy for electricity supply, so we can continuously work to improve energy usage. We also encourage the use of electric cars and bicycles for employee commuting, providing on-site rechargeable electric cars and supporting the AOK "Bike to Work" initiative throughout Germany for many years.
