GOAL ZERO: a mission, a commitment for all

We aim to provide every individual with a bright, safe, connected and sustainable future by offering intelligent, portable power solutions designed for everyone and usable everywhere. We encountered so many obstacles that one day I looked up to the sky and thought, "I give up. I can't go on." Almost immediately, an idea came to me: "If not you, who? If not now, when?" This reflection had a profound effect on our team and gave us the courage to overcome our problems. Our vision remained unchanged, but we realized that our methods had to adapt to what we believed to be effective, and that's what really worked. We found that by providing fundamental tools that everyone needed, they could use these tools to create revenue opportunities within their communities.

At Goal Zero, our products are designed to help those most in need, but they're still extremely practical for those with the most. Think about that for a moment. If we have products that can really do this, we can all benefit. After all, we all share this planet and a common experience.

We have the ability to put energy into the hands of every individual on this planet, without depleting our resources. There's enough for everyone, so if not you, who? If not now, when?" Robert Workman, Founder, Goal Zero.

A global presence with a "Goal Zero" mission

After visiting the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where he saw the need tohelp people lift themselves out of poverty, Robert Workman created "TIFIE Humanitarian" (Teaching Family and Community Independence through Business). His inspiration came from theidea of teaching villagers how to run a sustainable economy in their community, and thus emancipate themselves from poverty. The first realization of this concept was the portable solar power pack, originally named GoBe, now known as the Yeti 150 Goal Zero. It comprised a battery, a solar panel and an LED light. This simple system brought light, security and economic empowerment to villagers, marking the beginning of the Goal Zero enterprise.

Goal Zero's mission is to empower individuals by putting reliable energy in the hands of every human being, following a mantra: Zero apathy, Zero boundaries and Zero regret. The company has rapidly extended its humanitarian impact, supplying Goal Zero batteries and lights to humanitarian partners in Haiti after the earthquake, donating Goal Zero kits to the Haitian Ministry of Health, and working with the Haitian Ministry of Health and the Haitian Ministry of the Interior.ism, donating lighting kits and solar panels to Japanese families left without electricity following an earthquake and tsunami. With the "Buy, Give" campaign, Goal Zero sent employees and resources worth almost $600,000 in portable power, solar panels and lights to the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The company also established a lasting partnership with Team Rubicon to improve communications during relief deployments. Goal Zero's "Share the Sun" humanitarian program was launched online, enabling the GZ Nation community to donate solar power to projects of their choice, helping to change lives around the world.

Goal Zero CEO and founder Robert Workman said, "Our mission is to put reliable energy in the hands of every human being on the planet. Being part of NRG, a company driven by the same ambition, enables us to achieve this goal in a much more powerful way. We exist to do good, to empower everywhere in the world."

In April 2015, Goal Zero collaborated with "Tifie Humanitarian" and "Point Innovate" to send employees equipped with solar panels, lamps and batteries to the village of Kushea, Ghana, to set up a small power plant. This project aims to offer schoolchildren and villagers a brighter, better future.

Goal Zero's humanitarian commitment also extended to Nepal, where a group of employees, Nepalese sherpas and ambassadors Mike and Lilliana Libecki accompanied representatives of the Human Outreach project on a tour of the country.representatives of the Human Outreach project to distribute solar equipment, computers, a water filtration system and gifts to monasteries, schools and medical clinics in the famous Khumbu Valley.

Thanks to generous partnerships, Goal Zero has been able to distribute more than $7 million worth of electricity and light to communities in need, whether in the Khumbu Valley or in the Himalayas.s in need, whether in Texas, Puerto Rico, Mexico or the Virgin Islands, bringing light where there was once darkness.
