The 40 km solo course
This course takes place at altitude with 4 passes over 2500 m to cross. A trail in autumn colors far from civilization that closes the "mountain" trail season. The last event before the snow inevitably covers the area until June of the following year! This course, in the heart of the mountain, offers you a complete change of scenery! Remember to get trail poles to ensure stability and performance in technical parts and to choose a suitable trail bag to carry all the necessary equipment during a long effort.
Departure at 8:00 from the hospice of the Little Saint-Bernard, a historically rich place at 2150 m altitude. The first part to the col de Chavannes (2603m) is rather rolling and presents no difficulty. For the knowledgeable, it takes a small part of the TDS course in reverse which has the advantage of being facing the Mont-Blanc massif. From the pass, the view is magnificent. The 2nd part is more technical with, after crossing the col de la Seigne (2516m) towards the refuge of Mottets, the ascent by a little-used path of the col de l'ouillon (2612m) which overlooks the glacier city. From the pass follows a long descent, gently sloping in the preserved valley of Versoyen, before climbing to the col de la Forclaz (2525m). From there, 400mD- to reach the finish line at the hospice of the little Saint Bernard.
