€ 160 years of the Edelrid brand
For those who love vertical freedom, EDELRID has been manufacturing innovative climbing and mountaineering equipment - for 160 years. What began with shoelaces, fishing lines and book strands, has grown into a company offering a variety of products for mountaineering and industrial climbing equipment, supplying the whole world. This year, the Allgäu-based company celebrates its 160th anniversary and looks back on an eventful history, full of ups and downs.
"We wanted to know exactly where we came from," explains Vitus Wuhrer, Managing Director of EDELRID GmbH & Co. KG.
"Since we started exploring our history, more and more memories have come to light. Stories of people who have worked with us. Stories that move and, above all, show how many people associate positive experiences with us. I'm particularly pleased to note that cohesion and family have always played a major role at EDELRID, from 1863 to the present day. We live the rope team".
The company is celebrating its anniversary with a major open day at its production site, as well as an exhibition at the Isny town museum. But the real message goes far beyond regional borders:

CLIMB GREEN: environmentally-friendly climbing products
Under the"ClimbGreen" label, EDELRID distinguishes products that are particularly respectful of the environment. They are made from sustainable materials or are distinguished by their particularly long service life.
With the ClimbGreen collection, EDELRID proves that the issue of sustainability can also be consistently implemented in the PPE sector without having to compromise on quality, safety or performance. Special achievements include innovative products such as the recycled NEO 3R 9.8 MM climbing rope, which won Germany's federal eco-design award, non-anodized carabiners or PFC-free climbing ropes which meet the requirements of the European Union's UIA with PFC-free products for water-repellent ropes.
"We love our sport, and the mountains, rivers and forests that are an integral part of our lives" is the brand's mantra.
Edelrid develops equipment we can all rely on to keep us safe on our outings. The brand is conscious of the ecological footprint of its products and their impact on man and nature.

EDELRID Zodiac 3R: The first recycled climbing helmet
With the Zodiac 3R, EDELRID launches the first recycled climbing helmet, proving once again that sustainability is also possible in climbing safety equipment. Both the robust polyamide outer shell and the shock-absorbing EPS inner shell are made from recycled plastic. This saves energy and resources, and reduces greenhouse gases. Of course, the Zodiac 3R - like all EDELRID mountaineering helmets - also reliably protects the head against impacts or falling rocks.
The recycled Zodiac 3R is ideal for mountaineering, climbing and via ferrata. The hybrid helmet protects the head from falling rocks and, thanks to its all-round protection, also offers protection in the event of a side impact. For the robust polyamide outer shell, EDELRID uses recycled production waste from its own rope mill. The EPS inner shell guarantees optimum cushioning properties and is made from recycled PET.
In terms of equipment, the Zodiac 3R meets all expectations. Its new design and optimized ventilation surfaces enhance comfort and guarantee continuous air circulation, which is particularly pleasant when outside temperatures are high. The Wing Fit system allows for quick adjustment, and the new chinstrap buckle is also very easy to use. The inner padding is detachable and can be machine-washed if required.
