Altra co-founders Brian Beckstead and Golden Harper met at Orem High School in Utah on their first day of cross country training. Since then, footwear innovation has been a given for Harper, who even used a toaster to heat and even out a pair of running shoes. The result was a shoe that, for the first time, didn't interfere with Harper's running. This idea led to the creation of the FootShape™ design and Balanced Cushioning. Altra Running continues to inspire this sense of freedom and encourage all runners to follow suit.
