Skis Faction La Machine 3 Mega (2024)

Discover Faction La Machine Mega, a lightweight, versatile touring ski ideal for all snow conditions. Sustainably manufactured with renewable energies.

Lightweight, versatile touring ski for all snow conditions, built with sustainable materials and renewable energies

The Faction La Machine Mega is a slimmer ski than the original, with a lightweight paulownia wood core and carbon layers, ideal for freetoruing. Its 109 mm width offers versatility, ample flotation on deep snow days and agile handling in dry weather.

Its progressive shape makes it possible to pivot without snagging and ride all snow conditions encountered in ski touring. It's made in Austria with sustainable construction and powered 100% by renewable energy.

Features:

  • Lightweight paulownia wood and full-carbon core ensures optimum lightness for freetoruing.
  • 109 mm width offers versatility, ample flotation and agile handling in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Durable, high-quality Austrian construction, powered 100% by renewable energy.

Technical features:

  • Extended tip and tail rocker: refers to the inverted camber in the tip and tail of the ski. This feature, combined with width at the base, is essential to ensure excellent lift in fresh snow. The extended rocker also facilitates ski maneuverability, enabling easier turns while reducing the risk of unwanted hang-ups.
  • Paulownia core: a hard, stable wood, is combined with poplar, a softer wood, to improve the ski's flexibility and bounce. This combination of two types of wood creates an ultra-light core while retaining maximum responsiveness and dynamics.
  • Carbon fiber: Between 8 and 12 strips of carbon fiber are arranged unidirectionally on each side of the core to enhance stability without increasing weight. Each carbon strip is carefully woven with the fiberglass to provide optimum strength and stiffness in all directions.
  • Surf zones : technology developed to harmonize the rocker and the tapered shape of the tips, guaranteeing perfect interaction between these two key features. The rocker provides exceptional lift and enhanced maneuverability, while the tapered tips move the widest part of the ski towards the center, reducing the risk of unwanted edge grip. This technology provides excellent lift and a smooth feel, whatever the conditions.
  • Full Strength Sidewall construction : consists of adding layers of protective material along the edges of the sidewall, between the edge of the ski and the topsheet. This technique ensures optimum stability and grip when the ski is negotiating a turn, while protecting the wood core, edges and outer surface from impact and potential damage.
  • CAP construction in tip and tail : reinforcement of the central part of the ski with extremely robust sidewalls, while the topsheet is wrapped. This technique protects the ski from impact, improving durability while reducing overall weight for freestyle or touring use.
  • Pair weight: 3.22 kg

Eco-friendly :

  • 1% for the planet: Faction donates 1% of ski sales to environmental protection associations.
  • Eco-sourced wood cores: wood sourced from forests close to Faction European factories, eliminating a large proportion of CO2 emissions.
  • Bio-resin: more environmentally-friendly resin with 35% plant-based molecules
  • Local raw materials: raw materials are purchased from European companies located near our plants Faction
  • Recycled materials: working with production partners to reduce waste. To date, sole, edge and topsheet scraps are recycled for reuse in production.

Discover the F12 TOUR EPF from Marker, a robust touring binding for powerful skiers, offering optimal control on all types of terrain.

Robust Touring Binding with Wide Frame for Powerful Skiers

The F12 TOUR EPF from Marker is a solid touring binding with high DIN adjustment and the advantages of a wider EPF frame. It allows you to control the widest touring skis on any terrain, thanks to improved power transmission.

It's ideal for powerful touring skiers looking for safety. Features include Backcountry technology, stainless steel AFD, Triple Pivot Light stop and Hollow Linkage heel retainer for optimum support.

Benefits :

  • Robustness and high DIN adjustment for optimum control on all terrains, even with the widest touring skis.
  • Backcountry technology for rapid transition from ascent to descent, and improved balance thanks to the 40 mm rearward shift of the binding in BC mode.
  • Triple Pivot Light stop and Hollow Linkage heel retainer for precise release, optimum hold and maximized torsional stiffness, without superfluous weight.

Technical specifications :

  • DIN: 4-12
  • Recommended skier weight: < 120 kg
  • Brake width: 110mm
  • Base length S: 265-325mm
  • EPF - Extended Power frame: incredible power transfer in all situations.
  • Climbing wedges integrated into the bindings allow you to alternate quickly between ascending and descending. The climbing wedge can be set to 7° or 13°. A 40 mm backward shift of the binding in BC mode ensures better balance and easier conversions.
  • AFD stainless steel: all Marker bindings feature a movable AFD (Anti Friction Device) and guarantee the highest precision release, virtually unaffected by dirt, snow or ice.
  • Triple Pivot Light: particularly compact, with a horizontally mounted spring. The combination of anti-friction plate and anti-friction elements integrated into the sole supports ensures particularly precise release behavior.
  • Hollow Linkage heel retainer: this heel retainer is designed to guarantee optimum support for all types of sole, whether hiking or alpine.
  • Pair weight: 2.36 kg
