Ride further, longer, with rethought comfort from the ground up.

On a bike, everything rests on three essential contact points: the hands, the feet… and the saddle. While the hands can move on the handlebars and the feet benefit from some float at the pedals, the saddle imposes almost permanent immobility. And this is precisely where comfort becomes critical, especially as the kilometers accumulate.

For optimal power transfer over time, you need to stay seated. And for that, the padding of the bib shorts is vital. POC wanted to reevaluate traditional approaches to the shape and construction of chamois to ensure maximum comfort for every cyclist, regardless of their position on the bike.

Rethinking comfort in the saddle

The POC brand aimed to go beyond traditional approaches to cycling comfort. The result: the new Cadence and Cadence Cargo shorts, integrating a new patented chamois – the Novus Chamois – developed from advanced scientific research.

To achieve this, POC researchers began by mapping pressure points across a wide variety of cyclists, of all genders, body types, and levels. The result? The data overturned several preconceived ideas. The width of the pressure points is much broader than suggested by simple measurements of the ischiums. And the differences between men and women turned out to be much more complex than expected.

Science serving ergonomics

This research continued with physiotherapists, gynecologists, and fitting specialists to better understand the impact of position, morphology, and even pain perception in the saddle. From this work was born the Novus chamois, an innovation for long-lasting comfort.
  • For women, the Novus Chamois features a sculpted front area to relieve frontal pressures, with a central cutout to limit friction.
  • For men, a wider area under the ischiums is complemented by a central channel designed to improve circulation and reduce perineal pressure.
In both cases, the chamois uses a multilayer construction with foams of different densities, as well as a gel under the ischiums that does not compress, ensuring constant support over long distances.

A cut designed for movement

But comfort does not stop at the chamois. The cut of the shorts has been completely redefined to accompany every pedal stroke. The straps of the women's models W's Cadence Bib Shorts incorporate a revamped system to facilitate natural breaks without compromising support. On the men's side, the M's Cadence Cargo Bibs adopt a "pocket" shape at the front, with a rethought hem to better fit the leaning position on the bike.

Go Wide and Far: the brand's mantra

POC has expanded research to further broaden comfort. By rethinking the shape, materials, and even the design of the chamois, they have created shorts capable of supporting all cyclists, over all distances, in all positions.

Because well-studied comfort is the freedom to go further.
