We are often asked about the meaning of our name, so here's a quick explanation: MPOWERD stands for Micro POWER Design.

Micro means we create simple, portable, personal products. Power means we provide clean technology to expand the possibilities. Design means that we combine form and function in all our products.

When combined, these elements are a reminder of our core value of empowering people, hence our name which means "empowering". In 2012, we created the first inflatable solar lamp, Luci, with the goal of providing a clean and affordable energy source that people could use in any situation. Since then, our vision hasn't changed much; we make sustainable, affordable, and well-designed products to meet everyone's needs.

Our mobile charging products allow you to venture as far off the grid as you want. Compact, lightweight and reliable, our mobile charging devices ensure you never run out of power. Plus, every purchase you make helps bring clean energy to the people who need it most around the world. With your participation, we can make a positive social and environmental impact.

As a social enterprise, we reinvest most of our gross revenues to achieve sustainability, expand our reach and fulfill our mission. In addition to our Give Luci program - which donates lamps to our partners - our sustainable business model means that the more we sell at home, the more we can sell at an affordable price in emerging markets and to nonprofits.
