This season, LAFUMA is evolving its insulation by supporting animal welfare and reducing waste. Indeed, this season, LAFUMA offers 100% recycled insulation, thus prioritizing items made from recycled materials.

Thanks to its partner Re:Down, specialized in recycling feathers and down, LAFUMA offers you 100% recycled down. From post-consumer products (duvets, pillows, etc.), the down and feathers are collected throughout Europe. Once sorted and selected, they are washed and sterilized at 135°C.

In addition to down, LAFUMA also offers 100% recycled synthetic insulation made from plastic bottles, as well as a whole selection of outdoor clothing accessories to accompany your outings.

For 12 years, LAFUMA has organized the Responsible Mountain operation in Chamonix to collect waste. Last September (2019), more than 3 tons of waste were removed from our mountains: cables, glass, skis, cans, and plastic bottles! Thanks to its partner Repreve, specialized in 100% recycled textile fiber, LAFUMA offers you new fleeces, jackets, and eco-designed t-shirts, as well as sustainable manufacturing purchases for a reduced impact.

Every year, 89 billion plastic bottles are consumed worldwide, which take nearly 1000 years to decompose in nature. Repreve recycles them into a high-performance textile material. These bottles are collected, sorted, washed, and then transformed into flakes. These flakes are then mixed, melted, and transformed into granules. These granules are stored in silos to be transformed into textile fibers that are recovered to make new outdoor clothing, including fair trade products that support an economy respectful of people and the environment.

Throughout the seasons, the teams at LAFUMA are committed to going further in eco-design by finding alternatives that minimize our impact on the environment.
