Bivouac in Italy
To enjoy the beautiful days, Clémence took a tour on the Italian side and shows us her hikes in the Aosta Valley through some photos. Her 4 days between Courmayeur, Morgex, Valgrisenche, Aosta, and La Thuile allowed her to enjoy and take in the landscapes. Moreover, to properly prepare for this type of stay, it is essential to choose your hiking backpack and your hiking gear carefully.
Courmayeur is a ski resort in northwestern Italy, located at the foot of Mont Blanc. Known for its SkyWay Monte Bianco cable car which offers a view of the peaks, including the Matterhorn and Mont Rose, from the top. For city travelers, the Duca Degli Abruzzi museum presents the history of mountain guides, which is interesting to learn more about their profession and their gear, whether you are into buying climbing equipment or hiking.
Morgex located in the heart of Valdigne at 923m altitude, is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Popular for producing AOP white wine, which is among the highest wines in Europe, you won’t leave empty-handed. Don’t forget to buy suitable hiking shoes to explore the surroundings.
Valgrisenche located at 1664m altitude, hosts a small ski resort for snow sports fans. Beautiful and extensive hikes are accessible for all levels. Designed for heliskiing, it can take you to discover 50 ski touring routes. To go further, also discover the recommended hiking boots for this type of terrain.
Aosta which is the capital of the Aosta Valley region, is close to ski resorts. Surrounded by magnificent peaks like Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Grand Paradis, and Mont Rose, you will be amazed. A Millet hiking backpack can accompany you on your excursions here.
La Thuile is also an Italian municipality in the upper Aosta Valley. Located between France and Italy, La Thuile was one of the very first properties of the House of Savoy with the Tarentaise Valley and Maurienne. When preparing your stay, think about the essential hiking gear.
The Grand Paradis
Clémence completed the Grand Paradis, mentioned above. Starting all the way down at Pont, the hike covers 20km and 2100m of positive elevation gain, reaching an altitude of 4061m. Through her photos, our ambassador claims to have had beautiful snow conditions, nice weather, and a real moment of pleasure despite the crowd at the summit. To evolve safely during this type of ascent, it is useful to have a Petzl headlamp for early morning starts, technical hiking clothing, and to select quality hiking accessories to be well equipped.
Thank you to our ambassador, Clémence David for her feedback on her experience and visuals. See you soon for more outings.
