A brand member of the Bluesign label
But what does the BlueSign label mean? It is an international label for textiles that guarantees that no toxic or carcinogenic substances are used during the production of products. Additionally, very precise criteria are set regarding water consumption, air quality, and energy.
The control is carried out by the independent control organization SGS.

Labelled since 2012
Located at the foot of the Dolomites for over 80 years, a UNESCO World Heritage site, La Sportiva must have a strong social and environmental responsibility. The methodologies and work processes are of low environmental impact. The company has always prioritized its relationship with the environment by seeking the most ecological approach possible. To further your responsible choices, we invite you to check our outdoor products that respect the environment on Alpinstore.
Since entering the clothing sector in 2012, La Sportiva has implemented procedures to certify the textile production chain according to the socio-environmental criteria defined by Bluesign. Starting from the 2014/2015 season, the brand introduced its first fully Bluesign products.
Partner of European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA)
The EOCA is a non-profit organization to support charitable initiatives aimed at environmental conservation. The two entities established a partnership in 2013. 109 companies are now part of the association and, through a jury appointed by the EOCA, evaluate the most deserving environmental projects to be supported.
In line with La Sportiva's philosophy, as evidenced by the environmental certification ISO 14001 in 2003, the use of water-based adhesives for the production of shoes at the manufacturing site in Ziano di Fiemme, the extensive use of solar and photovoltaic panels for the maintenance of the headquarters, and adherence to Bluesign, the certification system for the production chain.

What happens to the waste resulting from the production process?
In the making of mountain shoes and climbing shoes, a small percentage of the material coming from the manual cutting benches can no longer be used in the production process and therefore represents the most significant production waste. If this topic interests you, feel free to browse our selection of hiking and trail shoes to discover models committed to the environment.
Rubber is a complex material, chemically obtained from substances called elastomers mixed together to achieve different degrees of elasticity, grip, and hardness: such complexity does not facilitate the disposal of the material in the standard production process and also requires the use of waste in the production cycles of other products and sectors, for which these remnants can be a valuable raw material.
To date, however, although there are still simple and quick ways to reuse rubber waste, the company has equipped itself with recycling systems that ensure the reuse of about 50% of the waste in other production processes.
Most of this waste is recovered and reused, as in the coating of the playground of the primary school of Alassio (Savona) or in the creation of synthetic grass for the sports complex "la Meridiana" in Catania.
The responsible approach towards the environment is first and foremost a state of mind that must be able to drive the continuous search for sustainable methods and processes. Today, innovating with passion, a mission contained in La Sportiva's payoff, is also and above all all of this.
