Völkl redefines the versatility of All Mountain freeride
The iconic Völkl Mantra and Secret, pillars of the All Mountain Freeride range, evolve for the 2024/2025 season with the launch of the M7 Mantra and Secret 96. These new generation Völkl skis stand out with improved stability, agility, and maneuverability, offering increased versatility for unmatched sensations on and off-piste. In addition to Völkl's proven technologies, such as the Tailored Titanal Frame to reduce weight while enhancing stability, and the Tailored Carbon Tips for better responsiveness, the M7 Mantra and Secret 96 incorporate the brand's new innovation: the 4 Radius Drive. These combined advancements push the limits of skiing, establishing a new standard of enjoyment on the slopes. With the arrival of the M7 Mantra and Secret 96, Völkl takes a major step in its commitment to innovation, offering an unparalleled skiing experience.
Climate change confronts skiers with increasingly unpredictable snow conditions, both on and off-piste. Völkl has integrated these challenges into the design of its new All Mountain Freeride models, incorporating innovative technologies like the 4 Radius Drive. These skis ensure both stability and robustness while preserving the joy of skiing. The result is an exceptional experience in diverse snow conditions, combining precision, enjoyment, and ease, accessible to a larger number of skiers.
Reinventing the dynamics of turns: Völkl unveils the 4 Radius Drive.
The ski features four distinct radii distributed along its length, providing a unique combination of precision, responsiveness, and agility:
- Tip / R1: A tighter radius (approximately 20 m) is integrated into the tip to maximize precision and agility, allowing for immediate response to the skier's initial movements.
- Front / R2: Between the tip and the binding, a more open radius (approximately 40 m) enhances resistance to external disturbances, providing increased stability at high speeds.
- Center / R3: A tight radius (approximately 15 m) at the camber offers maximum agility, reacting instantly to the slightest edge movements, and facilitating short turns or deep carves.
- Tail / R4: The moderate radius (approximately 25 m) at the back of the ski allows for a smooth and controlled transition at the end of a turn, ensuring optimal support for linking curves smoothly.
This unique design provides great versatility, allowing skiers to easily link long and short turns while enhancing the tip's resistance to variable snow conditions. Whether off-piste or on demanding terrain requiring quick direction changes, the 4 Radius Drive enhances the performance of these skis, recognized for their exceptional versatility..jpg)
Tailored Technologies to Optimize Performance and Durability
One of the main features of Völkl ski construction is the integration of exclusive Tailored technologies. The Tailored Titanal Frame precisely places the Titanal frame along the edges, adjusting the frame width according to the ski length. This allows for weight reduction while improving agility, thus requiring less effort. The ski becomes easier to control, responsive to changing conditions, and adapts its power and stability based on the skier's size and weight.
The Tailored Carbon Tips provide precise control and increased agility at the tip, particularly useful for short and fast turns. The orientation and thickness of the carbon fibers, as well as their angle of inclination, allow the ski to store energy with minimal effort. For the new models, the fiber layout has been improved to optimize the torsion and rigidity of the tip. Thanks to these technologies, control is enhanced, and turns can be initiated with increased precision.
The optimized use of materials, such as the Tailored Titanal Frame and Tailored Carbon Tips, illustrates Völkl's commitment to sustainable development. Additionally, the Völkl factory in Straubing operates 100% on renewable electricity provided by the hydroelectric power plant on the Danube in Kagers. Starting January 1, 2024, the company will also adopt CO2-compensated gas to further reduce its climate impact and move towards its goal of carbon neutrality.
Alongside the M7 Mantra, the new version of the Secret 96 will join the Secret All Mountain Freeride range for women starting in the 2024/25 season. It will also benefit from the flagship technologies of the M7 Mantra, such as the 4 Radius Drive, the Tailored Titanal Frame, and the Tailored Carbon Tips, which will enhance the dynamics, agility, and versatility of the ski.
