SALEWA: New trekking collection

We are experiencing a true revolution of information: a period of transformation, rapid change, and constant interactions. Perhaps this is why we see more and more people, with different levels of experience, training, and perspectives, drawn to the mountains and nature. These spaces represent fixed points to which we return, places that allow us to apply our own experiences and skills. They are places where people have the opportunity to express their diversity by connecting with each other and reconnecting with themselves.

While hiking in the mountains, crossing desert-like landscapes and distant plains, moving through the heart of nature. Embracing the journey and the experience, respecting our own pace, absorbed in ourselves or with people sharing the same ideas and enjoying similar experiences. All these elements are part of our search for a new multisensory, mental, and physical well-being.

It is this state of mind that formed the starting point for the design of the Salewa Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The team began by studying the evolution of habits and methods of movement in nature by closely observing newcomers to the mountains and new enthusiasts of outdoor activities.

Salewa's designers took note of the language they use and their interpretation of products and solutions as a natural transition between urban and outdoor. The new Progressive Trekking collection is dedicated to these users, find the Salewa hiking shoes. To all those who love travel and nature. To all those who consciously choose to wear natural fibers and who enjoy the feeling they provide on their skin. To those who consciously choose to make environmentally friendly and sustainable purchases. And who wish to feel in harmony with their environment when venturing to new inspiring destinations. What exactly are the technical natural fabrics Alpine Hemp and Sorona®? Hemp is a gift from nature. It offers natural performance, is tear-resistant, and is both extremely durable, soft, breathable, and thermoregulating. With Alpine Hemp, Salewa has developed a natural hybrid fabric that it has widely used in various collections over the years due to its ideal properties for outdoor use. By blending hemp with synthetic threads, such as recycled polyester, and organic cotton or elastane, it becomes possible to create robust fabrics that remain soft, stretchy, and pleasant to the touch.

For its new trekking collection, Salewa goes even further. For the first time, the jackets and pants in this collection feature a hybrid woven construction that blends hemp with Sorona bio-based polymer fibers, made partly from corn starch. This blend gives hemp additional natural stretch properties, eliminating the need to add elastane. The resulting blended material offers greater softness and long-lasting thermoregulating comfort, while the Durastretch inserts provide excellent abrasion resistance and additional stretch performance.
